Alec Alvin Gallia, my dad, celebrated his 90th birthday at Pappadeaux's Restaurant in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, September 27, 2009. It was a happening that neither he nor us had ever thought possible only a few weeks earlier. But it did! Our daughter and her husband, Natalie and Craig Prins, with their two daughters, Lauren and Amelia, flew into DFW from Oregon on the Saturday night before. Our son, Brian, and his daughter, Allie, came in from Quinlan, Texas. My niece and her husband, Amy and Andrew Fairchild arrived from Irving, Texas. And two of Dad's closest firends from his Arlington Gem & Mineral Club, Frank and Charlotte Krystinik, also attended. Sadly, my brother and his wife, Ron and Becky Gallia, couldn't be there due to illness and my two sons, Les and Mel, and Mel's family, Patty, Alec, Philip, Kristen, and Brandon couldn't make the trip from Louisiana due to work commitments. It was a wonderful celebrations, one that meant so much to Dad and all that were there, with lots of re-acquainting, memory sharing, laughter, and good food! Wish all could have been there.
